Find out the BMW M8 2020 price today!
With a number of different models available in the BMW 8 Series line-up, you can't say that choice is limited. The most-affordable version of the 8 Series is the entry-level 840I M Sport Gran Coupe, with an eight-speed auto and 3.0-litre bi-turbo engine, which is priced from $179,900 before on-road costs. At nearly double the price, the BMW M8 Competition is the top-spec model in the 8 Series stable, complete with a 4.4-litre twin-turbo configuration, and a starting price of $357,900 plus on-road costs.
The BMW M8 Competition, in coupe body, is the most powerful production car built by the German auto-maker. At the same time, it's also effectively the fastest car in the company's line-up, with a blistering speed on the road. It is slightly ahead of the M5 when comparing the general breadth of the variants across the two models, however, the special-edition and highly-limited M5 CS is technically the fastest of any individual BMW vehicle, but you might have trouble finding it.
On paper, the BMW M8 can match it with some of the top supercars that you'll find from the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini. However, the style and performance of the M8 is more akin to a GT car, which is in no small part due to the fact that this front-engine sports car was developed from a GT car, and doesn't quite have the same sort of buzz that some of its more iconic peers might boast, even if technically they stack up quite similarly in terms of specs. Don't let that deter you, however, this unit is effectively a supercar, just without quite the same recognition.
You may have read the social media marketing line, proclaiming the 2020 BMW M8 Competition as simply ‘the fastest ever BMW M car in series production’. I say ‘simply’ as it a rather specific claim, but impressive nonetheless. Bringing it up almost nonchalantly over video conference chats makes great banter, "fastest ever, you say"... but it doesn’t accuratel...
View ReviewThe BMW M8 Competition is priced at $352,900 plus ORCs in Australia. The four-seat, two-door high-performance coupe – or Grand Tourer – is a big beast measuring 4.85 metres long and 1.9 metres wide. That means you get a big (420-litre) boot, two giant front seats and two semi-usable rear seats. It's been compared to the Porsche 911 in some quarters and toute...

View ReviewIt’s not often that a shiny new car stops people dead in their tracks for a second glance – regardless of whether they’re a car person or not. The all-new BMW M8 Competition does just that. It’s the most powerful BMW series production car ever built, and has the most Australian name you could ever stick on a car. Pronounced with an Australian accent it reads...
View ReviewThere's a lot to drink in when sizing up the new BMW M8 Gran Coupe. For starters it’s an M6 Gran Coupe essentially reborn on a new platform, within a new skin and bearing a fancier name. In person its visual package still commands a presence our car’s Ametrine metallic purple only amplifies. Yes, while its fastback styling is more obvious when ogled from a f...
