Perhaps the most stylish vehicle to come out of the X-series range, the BMW X2 is a compact SUV-cum-hatchback that while smaller than the X1, offers an added level of premium comfort and enhanced designer looks. You’ll initially notice the alternate direction BMW has taken this car, pitching to a different type of motorist than it normally would. If the smaller body is a point of consternation, then once you’re inside the car it should be anything but a concern. Not only is there an unforeseen level of roominess inside, but the lighter frame and tweaked suspension setup makes for a more limber and zippy car that glides through corners. That’s despite sharing the same quality found in the X1 as far as wheelbase, engines, transmission and chassis. Other than the delighting cabin space, there are select materials used throughout, and a range of technological interfaces make for an effortless and accessible operation. The pairing of a range of 2L motors with either an eight-speed torque converter or seven-speed dual-clutch transmission extract mighty vitality, but every inner-city, young professional will yearn those seductive looks of the BMW X2, which alone justify the premium.
