In the eyes of the motoring universe, the Porsche 911 is considered one of the original supercars. It has a long and proud history of racing accomplishments behind it, and frankly, it is one of the best sports cars ever made. It has been pitted head-to-head against a number of other high-profile performance units over the years and done remarkably well, and thanks to the sheer power on offer, the 911 makes an impact in more ways than one.
This really depends on what you want to prioritise in a new car. Of course, if money is no barrier, you may as well look at the top of the 911 range, because the best-performing variant from the line-up is the 911 Turbo S. At the other end of the scale, and at slightly less than half the price of the Turbo S, the Carrera may appeal to those who want a taste of a supercar without the extra luxuries and blistering performance upgrades. The truth is, the most all-round option is probably somewhere in between, so also have a look at the Targa and GT3 names.
The 'cheapest' Porsche 911 variant is by no means particularly cheap at all, however, compared with some of the other variants in the 911 line-up, you could argue the 911 Carrera in coupe guise represents good value. It is priced from $241,300 before on-road costs such as stamp duty, dealer delivery fee, registration and other government charges. The Carrera is a rear-wheel-drive unit powered by a six-cylinder 3.0-litre twin-turbo engine.

Alfa Romeo has been hard at work refining the Giulia. The engineers in Turin have updated the infotainment, interior trim, and driver assists to make its beautiful sports sedan a better rival for its German foes – and they’ve done a pretty good job of it. But the more mundane, mainstream Giulia isn’t what the red-blooded Alfisti want to know about. They want...
