BMW’s littlest M coupe, the M2 has enjoyed a stellar rise since its introduction a few years ago, and in 2021, the line-up is a distinctly different look than the outgoing model. The Competition variant now serves as the entry-level model in the range, while the CS takes pole position as the flagship variant. The MY21 series also delivers a hefty upgrade in terms of power, with the top-spec CS model now capable of delivering 331kW and 550Nm of torque thanks to a twin-turbo 3.0-litre set-up. The availability of six-speed manual is also sure to delight the motoring purists, but of course the seven-speed dual-clutch auto is precise and nimble when it comes to gear changes. Sporty looks are sure to be your first impression of the M2, which looks stunning from a number of angles. There is plenty of space up front in the M2, and although the rear is a little more constrained, this coupe series really is targeting young urban professionals. Whereas the standard equipment found in the Competition is extensive, the CS adds more sporty touches and flair, plus global production of the variant is limited to just 2200 units. For an authentically sporty driving experience, the M2 is richly rewarding, with engines that come to life, and sublime road-handling qualities. While the absence of AEB, blind-spot monitoring and lane-keep assist might deter some, the M2 has the performance enthusiast in mind.
