BMW 3 Series
It’s a range that is as adored as any other top-end car going around in this day and age. The BMW 3 Series has one solid reputation behind it, and like a fine wine, it seems to just get better with age. The 2021 3 Series line-up kicks off with the 320i where standard features extend to a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, sat-nav, head-up display, auto LED headlights and high-beam, rain-sensing wipers, keyless operation, parking sensors, reversing camera, wireless phone charging and more. That is a lot of kit, and it’s before you consider optional extras that get the most out of this upmarket name. With a five-star ANCAP safety rating, the 2021 3 Series has all the modern safety tech that is important nowadays, and that tech focus really manifests through the rest of the delightful cabin as well. Engines across the line-up are punchy and dynamic, with lots of poise and rear-wheel-drive finesse. Engaging, fun, yet not too over the top, the 3 Series remains a standout luxury sedan.

If you’ve been around cars for a long while, the arrival of any new-generation BMW 3 Series is a moment met with much anticipation. The nameplate minted the “ultimate driving machine” ethos, says BMW, and it’s considered the premium sport sedan originator in wider general opinion. And while petrolheads like to argue which of its now seven generations are bes...

Fans of the BMW 3 Series are salivating at the prospect of an all-new M3, but the German prestige car maker is remaining tight-lipped about when its high-performance halo model will make an appearance. Until then, the next best thing is its 330i sedan, which does at least come standard with some M Sport kit, including: adaptive M suspension; M aero package;...

Over 44 years BMW has produced more than 15 million examples of the 3 Series. That's roughly one every minute and a half... for over four decades. And the latest, seventh-generation version of what the famous German maker defines as the "heart and soul" of its brand has landed in Australia. The new '3' is longer and wider. It's also claimed to be slicker aer...

The automotive world is increasingly dominated by SUVs, but for BMW the heart-and-soul 3 Series perhaps surprisingly remains its biggest seller. This new model, codenamed G20, is the seventh generation since 1975, a time period over which the company has sold more than 15 million, more than any competitor in the space. Sales commence in Australia during the...

I’ve always loved the BMW E30 – rear-wheel drive, sporty and fun to drive. The latest generation of the BMW 3 Series (the G20) kind of follows the same formula. The entry-level 2021 BMW 320i is (relatively) light, rear-wheel driven and in my eyes tries to stick as close as it can to that winning recipe. We spend a lot of time talking about the top end of the...

The BMW 3 Series rolled out globally in 1975 igniting a new premium high-performance sedan battle that still rages to this day. But while the Munich manufacturer certainly pioneered the market, it hasn’t always lead it. Since the E21 3 Series launched 44 years ago, many rivals have attempted to take the mantle from BMW. Some have succeeded. Certainly from a...
