BMW 2 Series FAQs

BMW 2 Series
After much anticipation, the new second-generation BMW 2 Series has landed down under, and this MY21 iteration brings out the big guns. In what is good news for buyers eying a true competitor to the Audi Quattro range, all-wheel-drive makes an appearance in the 2 Series line-up for the first time, with the M240i being the lucky recipient. Other variants in the 2 Series stay true to rear-wheel drive, which means you certainly have your options. At the top of the range the M240i gets a barnstorming 3.0-litre turbo V6 that puts out 275kW, and mated to a slick eight-speed auto you can go from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.3 seconds. It is the pick of the bunch compared with the alternative 180kW turbo four-cylinder and 1.5-litre turbo three-cylinder, but those engines are no slouches either. One of the more noticeable improvements across the entire 2021 2 Series range is handling and steering, with BMW improving the stiffness of the platform body for better stability and responsiveness through corners. Borrowing a number of other features from its bigger brother in the 4 Series, including advanced safety aids, as well as more space and a bold new look, you’re the real winner here, so make it count.

But the more mundane, mainstream Giulia isn’t what the red-blooded Alfisti want to know about. They want...
