BMW 1 Series
The 2021 BMW 1 Series marks the first time this range has been developed with front-wheel-drive after BMW opted to switch from the more sporty RWD set-up. Due to that change, the new MY21 BMW 1 Series has also seen something akin to a major makeover, with a sideways-mounted motor now leading to a shorter bonnet and slightly more compact length overall. But this works well, with the rear in particular now truly looking the part of an upmarket hatch. Inside the cabin, the improvements extend to bigger boot space - now at 380 litres versus 360 litres in the MY20 BMW 1 Series - but also general presentation, which feels rich and rewarding, while still being logical and intuitive for the driver. Boasting seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearboxes, each of the variants across the 1 Series feel slick, and the range of engines - now more economical thanks to FWD - offer brisk pace and great fun. With standard features like touchscreen infotainment, sat-nav, digital key, forward and reverse AEB, lane-departure warning, rear-cross traffic alerts and blind-spot monitoring, so much value has been crammed into this new line-up, you’ll feel you have no choice but to take a closer look.

But the more mundane, mainstream Giulia isn’t what the red-blooded Alfisti want to know about. They want...

I looked at the golf R and Audi RS3 hatch but they were a bit plain looking, expensive and a long delivery time. The cons, there seems to be no outside air recirculating mode unless you have the air con on. I purchased a 5 year service p...

This is a very nice small car. Exactly what I wanted. Took it for a 3K round trip from Sydney to Broken Hill and it was comfortable and responsive.
