BMW 1 Series FAQs

PMC Says... 8.1 / 10

BMW 1 Series The BMW 1 Series, now in its second generation, comprises a suite of compact, executive level sports hatchbacks. Available in petrol or diesel, each vehicle in this nimble range is sure to get your pulse racing courtesy of their fierce acceleration, sharp handling and impeccable balance. The BMW 1 Series sets itself apart from other hatchbacks by incorporating rear-wheel drive and a longitudinally mounted engine. From every angle, each of the variants in the BMW 1 Series range glimmer in beauty, with their interiors modelled on their dearer bigger brothers. You can rest assured that BMW has pulled out all the stops to include as many features as possible at this modest price point, ensuring value is the order of the day. If you want to add a little extra glamour to the experience there’s also no shortage of upgrades on offer, with BMW catering for the sports-enthused driver whom might be fond of variable steering, sports suspension, high-spec brakes and a suite of other luxuries. As a competitor to the Audi A3 Sportback and Mercedes-Benz A-Class, BMW has crafted a smooth, efficient and elegant car that remains one of the few rear-wheel drive hatchbacks in the entire market.

BMW 1 Series Review

BMW diehards were never going to be excited by the third-generation BMW 1 Series, given the switch from a rear-wheel drive chassis to a ubiquitous front-wheel drive setup. After all, it was BMW’s unique selling point in the entry-level luxury segment, one that held it head and shoulders above the rest in the eyes of keen drivers. But if we push enthusiasts a...

As an added challenge, all of the inspections are taking place in tiny, one-way inner-city streets with limited parking. Oh, and the traffic is terrible.  A logistical nightmare, yes, but also the perfect proving ground for BMW’s new-generation 118i – the more affordable member of the 1 Series family and the smallest hatch on offer from the German carmaker. ...

When the iPhone first appeared just over a decade ago, I can remember thinking a phone without buttons would be a giant pain in the neck. Until I used one, and now the idea of a keypad phone sounds akin to starting a car with a crank handle. The new 1 Series is likely to offer most buyers a similar revelation, with its move from the BMW-traditional rear-driv...

A reality check before we start: Are you reading this review prepared to pile on the new BMW 1 Series because its engine is mounted sideways in the engine bay? Do you think every 1 Series variant should be an M-fettled BMW M140i? Sorry, might as well say it right now: this car is not for you. Nor is the review. BMW has essentially admitted it will forsake th...

The 2020 BMW 1 Series is more than just an all-new model, it’s the company’s first conventional hatchback. The first two generations of BMW 1 Series – from 2004 to 2011 and then from 2011 to 2019 – were rear-wheel drive and unique to the rest of the class. The 2020 BMW 1 Series marks the first time the company has adopted front-wheel drive and all-wheel driv...

Thank you David for your assistance in helping me purchase my Toyota Landcruiser. Price My Car is a professional company to deal with and have helped me save a considerable amount of money under the retail price of the vehicle and not having to deal with car sales people was a much better experience. I will definitely be recommending Price My Car to my friends and family, once again thank you David. Best Regards Peter.

    Car shopping made easy

I went online to learn which dealer would be close to my area to buy my special car. I was advised by Price my Car to go to either of 2 dealers. I went to both. I was trading my 3 year old car in. One dealer gave me a much better tradein price which made the car I wanted to buy a much more reasonable price. Very Happy with my new car & then I received a $100 voucher from Price my Car. Such a bonus. Happy with dealer they suggested & very happy with service from Price my Car.

The best and stressless way to buy a car

I must say that Tom@Price My Car and Philip@BMW Doncaster were absolutely amazing. Philip had the time and patience late on a Thursday afternoon to listen to what our requirements were and was able to come up with some amazing options. He then organised for one of his salesmen to provide us with a test drive car the next day. We both liked the drive of the car ect. so we then did the deal on the car that Philip had quoted us which is a car that is on a boat and due to be available late February. If you are wanting to buy a car at a great price and have a “ Stressless “ experience then Price My Car is certainly the way to go !
