With an expansive line-up, choice across the BMW 7 Series is enormous in its own right. Between the 730d, 730d M Sport, 740i and 740i M Sport, these are the most-affordable names in the 7 Series line-up, and they will set you back a minimum of $204,900 before on-road costs. Meanwhile, coming in at a whopping $383,900 plus on-road costs, the M760LI Xdrive is the dearest option in the 7 Series stable.
Although your standard 7 Series model sold down under isn't exactly offered with the bells and whistles that might be available elsewhere, in some foreign markets you do have the choice of extras like bulletproof protection. The 7 Series High Security was the first armoured car in full compliance with VR7 ballistic protection standards, offering dual-layered tyres among a strengthened chassis and bulletproof glass. As we said, however, don't count on this being available in Australia.
As a full-size limo sedan, the 7 Series is always going to be at the mercy of its sheer size and weight, however, that doesn't mean this car is slow by any sense of the word. In fact, the BMW 7 Series is staggeringly quick, with the potential to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just over 5 seconds. Of course, that's thanks to the thunderous 3.0-litre twin-turbo power on offer, which can help this range top 250 km/h quite comfortably.
