BMW M3 FAQs

BMW M3 Known the world over as a legendary sports sedan, the BMW M3 has evolved into something special of late. There’s an identifiable aura to the car, beyond the realm of its bold, sharp lines and athletic front and rear ends. Inside the cabin a clean and articulate design awaits, with seating that wraps around and envelops occupants who are disposed to abundant space and amenity. But the M3 has always been about that mighty throttle and punch, the ragged spirit just waiting to be unleashed from twin-turbo motors tucked under the bonnet. Of course, that doesn’t disappoint, but it is the broader control and dexterity in terms of handling, combined with swiftness through corners, which makes for one red-blooded driving experience. Supported by the engineering and safety ingenuity associated with the prestigious BMW brand, build quality is immaculate, while technology is a vocal lead amidst a field of star-studded features. And in many respects, that’s the perfect way to consider the M3, a standout choice of car that has built its reputation by not shying away from highlighting its qualifications to the world.

BMW M3 Review

The good news is the new sixth-generation M3 saloon and second-generation M4 coupe are on course for Australian delivery during the first half of 2021. Despite the broad disruption to its operations brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, BMW’s M division continues to hold firm to plans to reveal both models in September, prior to a start to production and sales b...

There was a time when the BMW M3 was the entire world’s go-to junior sports sedan. No other car-maker consistently made fast, small-to-middling sedans in the M3’s early generations and nobody ever did it as well. And then the V8 came and the M3 was never the same again, losing its delicious poise in favour of muscle and manufacturing convenience. It returned...

You could argue the BMW M1, a stunning wedge of late ‘70s Giorgetto Giugiaro design, first inserted the Bavarian maker’s 'M' performance brand into the public consciousness.  But there’s a second, more enduring alpha-numeric BMW nameplate, that’s more likely to pass the person-in-the-street word-association test. ‘M3’ is synonymous with BMW performance, from...

Let me put this out there from the outset – the 2016 BMW M3 Competition is not only a giant killer, it’s the performance bargain of the year, bar none. Standard road-going M3s have always been quick and desirable, but none more so than the current F80-generation four-door rocket with the must-have Competition package from BMW’s formidable M GmbH subsidiary....

Never before has a new BMW M3 (or M4) sparked as much discussion about design than the latest iteration, and it’s all about that giant nose. I get it, photos make it look plain wrong, but up close and in the metal it’s not as confronting. Granted, the grille with some of the largest kidneys on a BMW since the 327 is definitely in your face, but after a few h...

Hindsight is never 20:20. More often than not, it’s an unreliable lens, surreptitiously depriving us of context. Take the BMW M3. The established narrative, moulded over time, is that the last generation M3 was a bit of a miss, that the original E30 version was the stripped-out motorsport hero and that AMG has finally got M’s number in this sector. One quick click and I was put in touch with the dealership sales manager who provided excellent service. No need to talk to sales people who are not the decision makers in the dealership.
