Audi SQ7
Once you start making it to the top of the Audi Q range, you know you’re in for a treat. Here, in the 2021 Q7 and SQ7, you’re rewarded in true style. There is acres of space inside this range, with every occupant across three rows afforded maximum comfort thanks to some of the roomiest seats you’ll come across in any SUV on the market. But the comfort isn’t just thanks to those glorious heated leather seats. No, the adaptive air suspension does wonders for ride quality, transforming the Q7 and SQ7 into something else. A dual-screen set-up is borrowed from the Q8, including a 10.1-inch infotainment screen and an 8.6-inch control display. This is standard across the range alongside wireless phone charging, a 12.3-inch digital driver display, Matrix LED headlights, and all the latest safety gear befitting a high-end unit. Mild-hybrid tech also features in the range and aids fuel economy, but once you put your foot down, the quality starts to shine through. Unsurprisingly, the SQ7 is a clear winner, with this performance version bursting to life thanks to a 4.0-litre turbo-diesel V6, and fully justifying its separate badge. If that’s not enough, add in a generous 3500kg braked towing capacity, an enormous boot, and mesmerising looks, the 2021 Audi Q7 and SQ7 are perfect choices for a discerning family.

It’s almost hard to believe that not so long ago, the idea of a serious, performance SUV in the large segment would have been the stuff of pub banter and bluster – but now the segment is getting a proper roll on. The newest kid on the block domestically is the 2020 Audi SQ7, which is very much a large SUV, and very much performance-oriented, too. How perform...

Much has changed in the performance vehicle landscape since 2016, but for the Audi SQ7, its point of difference has not. ‘The world’s fastest seven-seat diesel SUV’ is a tag the original Audi SQ7 wore proudly at its launch, and still does today – four years on. Granted, it’s a bit like claiming a Guinness record for the world’s fastest tortoise, but in a lux...

With car brands turning away from diesel engines in favour of more efficient petrol and hybrid powertrains, Audi has bucked the trend and stuck with an oil-burner for its latest SQ7 large SUV. But the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology is just a carryover from before, so what else has Audi done to keep the SQ7 fresh in 2020? O...

If there is one constant in this big, wide world of ours, it's mathematics. The simple purity of numbers makes any statement ultimately measurable. For example, even the most theoretical of mathematicians will concede that 7 is greater than 5. It is an undeniable, calculable result that is the same every single time. The 2017 Audi SQ7 may look to most like a...

Do you hear that? It’s the sound of Audi capitalising on Australia’s ravenous demand for SUVs with two high-riding flagships: the updated Audi SQ7 and brand-new Audi SQ8. This pair are twins under the skin: the SQ7 taking the edge in practicality thanks to a third seating row, and the frameless-window-toting SQ8 playing the role of style leader as Ingolstadt...

Let’s straighten something out. SUVs aren’t particularly MOTOR’s bag. Their high-riding physics shouldn’t, and often don’t, translate well to the demands of fast, thrilling driving. But Audi’s trying hard to spite Newton, really hard, because its SQ7 TDI launches with enough technology that could land a space shuttle. The new seven-seater SUV’s stuffed with...
