Audi A7
The second-generation 2021 A7 sportback offers all the best qualities synonymous with the Audi range of cars. Not only is it stylish, but it is powerful, practical, savvy, graceful and comfortable. Picking a frontrunner from the range is hard, each variant comes with great levels of equipment with respect to price-point. However, if there is one variant that just screams value it is the 55 TFSI Quattro S tronic, which features a 3.0-litre V6 mild-hybrid turbo-petrol engine. It is capable of producing 210kW of power and 600Nm of torque, which is nothing to sneeze at. Mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that drives all four wheels, the A7 is mechanically brilliant. This is a car with gifted traits and that shows as soon as you put your foot on the pedal. This is also every bit the elegant name as well, with passengers afforded great space to lounge in what are first-class ergonomic seats. In many ways, Audi has turned the sportback segment into a class of its own making, and the A7 is right up there with the best of them.

Early on, we had our reservations about how well the Audi A7 would do. A premium hatchback – seemed like a strange idea at the time. But, fast-forward to 2019 and the all-new Audi A7 has not only smartened up its looks, but also integrated a suite of new technologies that set this vehicle apart from the rest of its siblings. The styling is less 'in your face...

The new Audi A7 Sportback — now on sale in Australia — is all about the way it looks. There are other things, like a new naming game across the whole brand — 45, 50 and 55 now signify the powertrain and equipment range — and some tasty new technology, as well as a chassis that is more refined and responsive. Audi is also simplifying its optional equipment wi...

The 2019 Audi A7 45 TFSI model is the entry-point to the second-generation large luxury hatchback range. The 45 TFSI model is the only four-cylinder A7 in the range, powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 180kW/370Nm, using a seven-speed dual-clutch (S tronic) automatic and 'quattro' all-wheel drive. Fuel use is rated at 7.1L/100km. The...

I decided that, for once, I would give particular credence to a carmaker’s communication and marketing ‘message’ of a new model, so as to frame up what it is in order to assess if it’s any good. As a journalist, I ordinarily take cursory note of this message, apply much salt, then report to readers that black is black when the message aims to convince that b...

If engineering worked anything like the fashion world, all-wheel steering would be its latest trend. It was fancy and new when it arrived with the Honda Prelude’s 4WS or Nissan Skyline’s HICAS, but then slowly became known as complex and expensive. It phased out at the start of the millennium. In 2013, though, Porsche returned it to vogue with the 991-series...
