If you're trying to split the Audi Q5 and SQ5, the best place to start is under the bonnet. The two models are fairly similar in terms of appearance, with sizing and design both in alignment, even if the SQ5 has a slightly more sporty appearance. Nonetheless, when you look at the performance difference between the two, it's easy to understand why the Q5 has an athletic look about it. Each of the V6 engines in the SQ5 line-up are potent, offering significantly greater levels of power that translate into faster acceleration. Elsewhere, there are a few more features and premium touches in the SQ5, but that is also why it is a dearer option.
With a top speed of 250km/h, the Audi SQ5 is a sight to behold. Now while you can't get to that speed on Australian roads, you won't be let down by the brisk acceleration and aggressive dynamics of the SQ5. This luxury unit is capable of going from 0 to 100km/h in the range of 5.1 to 5.4 seconds, which is lightning quick for an SUV. There is talk that the latest version of the SQ5 could be even quicker, so what's not to like about that.
As a premium brand, Audi has forged a reputation for developing some impressive cars, with reliability proving to be a highlight. The SQ5 is no exception, and with no major issues being tied to this model, plus a solid platform that has served several generations of Audi's luxury cars, the points certainly stack up in its favour. Do keep in mind, however, every car will require repairs at some point, and most manufacturers are subject to recalls at various stages, which only serve to build upon the reliability of future releases.
