Having started its life as the first SUV Jaguar ever produced, the F-Pace has now become its fastest selling car across the entire range. That’s despite its premium positioning in the market, where it commands a significantly greater starting price than the heavier E-Pace. Nevertheless, the sporty mid-size SUV is more affordable than those from Audi and Porsche, with many of the same perks. Standard features across the latest models include an electric tailgate, reversing camera, front and rear parking assistance, auto wipers and headlights, hill-launch assistance, trailer stability assist, adaptive cruise control, AEB, lane-keeping assistance and torque vectoring. Up until recently the engines across the F-Pace range consisted of 2L or 3L options, with the turbocharged motors put to great effect to extract notable expedition and power. In 2019 however, the SVR variant joins the fold, sporting a 5L V8 supercharged engine that is capable of delivering 404kW, 680Nm and 0-100km/h in 4.3 seconds. The cabin, which is tailored with premium materials, feels roomy and comfortable, plus there is a sizeable luggage hold and full size spare wheel in the boot. This may be an imposing SUV, but it has all the performance of an athletic coupe. Here’s your solution to own both.

And if you want something that can move lots of people, then you might as well head on down to your closest C...

Not quite garden variety, yet not an allout SVR, does the FPace S still carve a solid middle ground in the brand’s expansive lineup?
