After just two years, the Endura, a direct replacement to the Ford Territory, was phased out by the end of 2020. That means the MY20 model is the last you’ll find of this large five-seater. The good thing is the Endura was futureproofed with a great number of active safety features like AEB, pedestrian detection, forward-collision warning, traffic sign recognition and lane-keeping assistance, making it a great SUV in the second-hand market for buyers eying a bargain. It also has a pretty expansive list of kit, including adaptive cruise control, parking sensors, reversing camera, auto wipers and headlights, plus sat-nav. The 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine stands up to the challenges of a tough urban environment, and with the eight-speed auto gearbox pulling the strings, the pairing couldn’t be any better. If that’s not enough, keep an eye out for the 2000kg braked towing capacity, as well as the huge cargo hold, which really does remind you this is a large SUV. The whole family can relax in this one, with space optimised to great effect for an inviting and comfortable cabin. If you’re prepared to give this unit a chance, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the results.

Ford Endura FAQs

Ford Territory owners have been searching for a genuine replacement for the Australian-made seven-seater since it went out of production in 2016. While rivals such as the Toyota Kluger, Mazda CX-9, Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento all have their merits, none quite hit the spot in terms of the Ford Territory's drivability. But what about the Territory's pseud...

Ford’s latest SUV, the Mondeo-based and Canadian-built Endura, arrived belatedly to replace the Australian built and developed Territory in late 2018. The Endura ranks in Australia’s sub-$70K large SUV class and is based on a platform that supports either front or all-wheel drive configurations. It is dimensionally very close to the Territory (in fact it’s a...

The Endura has been in dealerships for less than a year, but its styling seems familiar and possibly a little dated. That could be because the Endura has been around in the United States since 2015 where it’s called the Edge. That said, it’s a tough and good-looking SUV thanks to the big, shiny grille, the high bonnet and more elegant touches like tail-light...

Leaving a seven-seat option out of the Endura range might be a bit of a gamble on Ford’s behalf, particularly when rivals like the Toyota Kluger, Mazda CX-9 and CX-8, Holden Acadia and Hyundai Santa Fe come standard with the flexibility of two extra seats, be they for full-time use or ‘just in case’ situations. If you don’t need or want the extra seats, thou...

The Endura ST-Line is the mid-spec variant of Ford Australia’s newest large SUV. It shares a sports body kit and interior trim with the powerful twin-turbo V6 ST version – which isn’t available here and is called the Edge ST overseas – and rides on a sports tuned suspension set up, but is powered by the standard 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine. Like the rest o...
