Peugeot 3008
Representing Peugeot’s best efforts to make an impact in the mid-size SUV segment, the 3008 is a stunning second generation model that has loads of glamour and enchantment. While the starting price is a little higher than some of the SUVs of its Japanese and Korean counterparts, the list of standard features is lengthy. This not only includes automatic transmission, but the likes of sat-nav, wireless phone charging, an 8” infotainment interface, dual-zone climate control, parking sensors, auto headlights and wipers, plus various safety aids. Despite its bulky frame, the Peugeot 3008 has a markedly lower weight than many of its peers. But it’s also this sizeable footprint which affords occupants ample room to relax and take in the deluxe materials used throughout the sumptuous cabin. A smooth transmission unit coherently pulls together gear changes, steering is light yet aggressive due to the fast-ratio configuration, and the turbo engine has solid capacity thanks to the lofty power-to-weight ratio. From the moment you lay eyes on the Peugeot 3008 you’ll realise it’s not made out to be a budget SUV, it’s all about refined taste and panache.

It’s 10 years since the original Peugeot 3008 landed on our shores, and much has changed for the French brand since. In 2010 the company was more popular in Australia than compatriot Renault, but has since fallen behind – and back then the 308 small car was the best-selling Peugeot, where it’s now the 3008. And where the first 3008 was an MPV (multi-purpose...

Never in my career as a reviewer have I driven a car with as much build-up as the Peugeot 3008. Approximately nine months before I even received word I would be driving it, a good friend out of the blue declared, ‘If you ever get to drive the Peugeot 3008, I call dibs on a trip around the block at the very least’. This happened a number of times, right up un...

A long-term test is generally a fairly straightforward thing. Get a car, keep you all up to date every month for the duration, do some interesting things with it. Away you go.  This time, we tweaked the idea a little. Rather than going straight to the car my family and I would use for the next six months, we had a quick refresher on Peugeot's smaller 2008. A...

Three hours and forty-two minutes. That’s a lot of time, enough to fly from the east coast of Australia to New Zealand, or listen to an entire debate in the Senate about how to waste $122m of tax payer’s money. The choices are endless. For us, though, that's how long we sat back as our car controlled the brake and accelerator pedals entirely by itself, readi...

AS A YOUNG car nerd growing up in the ’90s, Sydney was a pretty good place to call home. Back then the harbour city still had its own motor show and my old man made a point of taking me every year. I was almost 11 years old when we visited in 1997, and my tiny mind was blown by the Peugeot 306 GTI 6 – a sporty hatchback with an outrageously exotic (for the...

We are very happy with our Peugeot 3008. Once you get used to things like the small steering wheel and the unique way to engage the auto transmission, it is a delight to drive. Very comfortable to ride in, excellent power and fuel economy. With things like the internal ambient lighting and the napper leather seats on our GTLine, it exudes class. There is suf...
