Mitsubishi Outlander
With a slick new design, the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander is looking to set itself apart from its predecessors, opening a new era as competition in the mid-size SUV category ramps up. Since the Outlander represents around 20% of Mitsubishi’s sales in Australia, you can be sure a lot of pressure has been on the company to deliver the goods in this latest iteration. Thankfully, the MY22 Outlander is a class above. The real differentiator here compared with past versions of the Outlander is the refined dynamics on offer, including light steering. Mitsubishi has embraced a new architecture platform that gives it more strength in the upper-half, while also allowing an overall increase in the size of this popular unit. It’s certainly the case here where you can tell every extra centimetre counts. A revamped interior sporting all the latest tech goodies is part and parcel, not to mention, fine materials everywhere. The rear two seats are still a little constrained, but the versatility associated with their inclusion, and negligible impact on boot space puts the Outlander in rare territory as one of the few mid-size seven-seaters on the market.

Plug-in hybrids don’t always get the plaudits they probably deserve, and detractors are many and quite vociferous. But the 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander GSR PHEV is one of the better options in terms of real-world efficiency. There’s a reason you look into a hire-car lot at most airports around Australia and see an assembled throng of Mitsubishi-badged vehicles....

The difference between the 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV at entry level (the ES grade) and at the top of the range (Exceed) is exactly $8500, before on-road costs. At $52,490, the Outlander PHEV GSR slots in at $4500 dearer than the ES variant and $4000 cheaper than the flagship Exceed. All three trim levels run the same powertrain, leaving the price differ...

It's very cheap for what you get. Part of the reason for that is Mitsubishi hasn't spent much money on developing the car over the years because customers keep buying them and there's little need to go bananas with the stuff its pricier competitors have. And with the departure of Holden (run-out specials aside), the Outlander cements itself as the cheapest s...

We all know a friend or two with a Mitsubishi Outlander. Last year, it was the fifth-best selling vehicle in Australia’s best-selling segment, the mid-sized SUV segment. That’s impressive, especially considering the current-generation Outlander dates back to 2012 and is based on a platform first introduced in 2006. In a way, the ASX has taken the natural pla...

The GSR badge means a lot to Mitsubishi fans. It has graced many a cracking performance car over the years – some more deserving of its sporting glow than others – though last year’s Mitsubishi ASX GSR small SUV (and now the Triton GSR ute!) proves that prostitution remains rife in Mitsubishi’s marketing department. Black-out visuals aside, they’re not reall...
