It is frighteningly quick, easy to drive for extended periods of time, supremely comfortable, and looks outstanding. With a twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 calling the shots, the M8 is nothing short of a rocketship, offering a 0-100km/h sprint time of just 3.2 seconds thanks to 460kW of power. Compared with some of the other M Series models, this flagship model gets the works when it comes to standard features. Active and passive safety is all-encompassing, while amenity inclusions run deep. Whether it be the Merlino leather trim or Alcantara headlining, electrically adjustable heated front sports seats, heads-up display, active cruise control, four-zone climate control, adjustable ambient lighting or the wonderful infotainment system - the M8 has it all. Both the two-door Competition and the four-door Gran Coupe are breathtakingly beautiful, and their low-flung stance aids the sure-footed composure of the M8, which also has generous space and storage inside. Words cannot summarise what a car of this magnitude is like to drive, it is the closest thing to technical perfection, but you just truly have to experience it for yourself. Even then, you might need to do a double take to make sure you’re not dreaming.
