The Toyota Prado is commonly referred to as the Toyota LandCruiser Prado in other parts of the world, separate from the LandCruiser itself. In Australia, where the series has gained notoriety, the Prado is effectively a smaller brother of the giant LandCruiser. Whereas the LandCruiser is considered the king of the jungle when it comes to off-roading 4WDs, the Prado is a mid-to-large-size SUV more suited to the road but with outback adventure capabilities, much like the Mitsubishi Pajero and Jeep Grand Cherokee. Both the Prado and LandCruiser ultimately have a reputation centred on high reliability and toughness, with extreme longevity.
Competing against the likes of the Volvo XC40 and Mazda CX-8, the Toyota LandCruiser Prado, or Toyota Prado for short, is a competent and impressive SUV that leads its category. It may be sporting a design that has been around for some time now, but what really matters here is the level of comfort, safety and versatility on offer. Families can take advantage of the Prado's diverse suite of capabilities to make the most of their weekends, but this is also a pleasant car to drive day-to-day.
The Toyota Prado fares considerably well in maintaining its value compared with many other mid-to-large-SUVs. After three years, one could expect it to retain around 70% of its original value, before easing to about 50% after five years. At the moment, new car prices for the latest Toyota LandCruiser Prado begin from $59,840, however, with an expansive range of configurations available, the price of higher-spec models rises from there.

But the more mundane, mainstream Giulia isn’t what the red-blooded Alfisti want to know about. They want...
