This is easily LDV's best car to enter the Australian market, representing an extensive level of value at such an accessible price-point. Seven seats make this a family-friendly option, and the turbo-diesel motor ensures this is one SUV that is economical to run. LDV has shied away from undercutting mainstream competitors when it comes to price, however, compared with some of the popular names, LDV has loaded the D90 with a bonanza of features to ensure its specifications list looks as good as any other like-for-like model.
LDV is a subsidiary of the Shanghai Automobile and Industrial Corporation (SAIC), which is the largest car manufacturer in China with a long history mainly in its home market. As such, LDV produces the D90 through the SAIC. For the first time in the company's history, LDV has utilised a diesel engine that has been designed and built in-house with the backing of LDV’s parent company.
LDV has the backing of China's largest car-maker, so this is one brand that has all the resources behind it to produce solid cars. It may not have the reputation of other names out of Asia like Toyota, Mazda or even Kia for that matter, however, LDV is going about things with its own angle, pitching to new car buyers who want their next vehicle to be affordable yet still have the most sought-after features money can buy. After using Australia as a 'soft' launch for its international expansion, LDV is set to compete more strongly in other markets, which can only be a good thing for future developments.
