Find out the Holden Equinox 2017 price today!
Although the Equinox was introduced in Australia as recently as 2016/17, the car is no longer being produced for Australia due to Holden's exit from the local new car market. General Motors retired the brand from down under due to a number of factors, including the impact of foreign exchange rates, high manufacturing costs, and the limited yet ultra competitive state of the domestic car market. Having been exiting right-hand drive markets for several years, GM said the viability of the smaller Australian market was no longer attractive.
The Holden Equinox was produced in Mexico, at the General Motors Ramos plant in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila. As an interesting fact, the Equinox was designed entirely in America, albeit the assembly of right-hand drive units destined for Australia was done in Mexico, where the Equinox was customised for our domestic roads and highways. This meant adjustments to the suspension tuning, tyres, steering, among other facets. Holden sought a more dynamic ride compared with the US-oriented Chevrolet Equinox, which offered a softer feel on the road.
Not quite unfortunately, the Holden Equinox is a five-door SUV-style wagon with seating for up to five. Some of the alternatives you might want to scope out, whether used or new, include the Isuzu MU-X, Haval H6, Mazda CX-9, Kia Sorento and Hyundai Palisade.
Mid-size SUVs are all the rage. No other segment comes anywhere near the medium SUV segment for sales growth – nearly 20,000 extra vehicles sold for 2017 so far. Naturally, Holden wants a piece of that action, and the good news is that the company's new Equinox is placed in a good position to achieve that. The Equinox is pretty well priced, although it's not...
