Service costs have long been a frustration for Volvo owners down under, however, those days are less common thanks to the brand's capped-price servicing. Owners can receive three years or 45,000km of servicing for the S60, V60, V90, XC40, XC60 or XC90 at a total price of $1500, or $2500 for the option of five years or 75,000km of servicing, whichever comes first. As a bonus, all new Volvo buyers also get a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, plus five years of roadside assistance.
Volvo has been the subject of two major global recalls in recent years, with one being related to concerns that the autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system on the XC60 may be faulty. It is also worth being aware that Volvo Australia issued a recall for the S60, S90, V40, V40 Cross Country, V60, V90 Cross Country, XC60, and XC90 ranging from model years 2014 through to 2019. Concerns behind the recall centred on the risk of an engine bay fire, with the recall broadening globally to more than 500,000 cars. New car buyers should keep in mind that a recall allows the company to address an issue and improve it for future models, which is good news for those eyeing the latest XC60.
