As the Holden Caprice is no longer being manufactured, the only models you will find available for sale are second-hand units from earlier years. The last run of the Holden Caprice was in 2017, when local production of the model was retired from the Australian car market. Holden was producing the Caprice at its Elizabeth manufacturing plant in South Australia, but when the plant was closed it ended a long spell of automotive history for the brand and its many followers. By the end of its tenure, the Holden Caprice had been in production for a total of 27 years, built on two separate platforms across that time.
An executive sedan, the Caprice was also known as a Statesman depending on the trim offered. As such, the Statesman was a full-sized passenger vehicle, and it was a marked step up from most other Holden sedans, but it was a more affordable model than the Caprice, and a distinctly different model from a technical standpoint. The Caprice often boasted a V8 powered engine, rather than just a V6, and the equipment list was generally more comprehensive in terms of inclusions, features and finishes.
