Like all premium cars, the X6 is going to set you back more than your standard everyday car to maintain. Not only are the parts generally of higher quality but since they are imported, they are also typically dearer too. Nonetheless, BMW offers a capped-price servicing package, with the X6 BMW Service Inclusive Package (Basic) costing $2,250 for 5 year/ 80,000km cover. For a used vehicle, there is an option for 3 year/ 40,000km cover at $1,850.
The resell value for the BMW X6 will slide sharply over the first years of ownership, something common with premium cars. This is often why so many new car buyers opt for a second-hand luxury vehicle. However, to provide some perspective, it is estimated that the X6 will retain around 60% of its original value after three years, and around 45% after five years. Since the original purchase price of an X6 is quite high, relatively speaking, that means the dollar value it depreciates will be quite a bit.
You can expect prices for the BMW X6 to begin at $123,900, which will see you step into an Xdrive30D M Sport. At nearly double the price is the top-spec X6 M Competition, which comes in at $215,900. The X6 is offered with a variety of different engines, including a 3.0-litre V6 petrol and diesel, plus a twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 petrol. Each variant in the X6 line-up features all-wheel drive and an eight-speed auto transmission.
