The 2019 Jeep Compass is split between two front-wheel drive variants, and two 4x4 models with the choice of diesel or petrol motors. Opting for diesel will bring you greater power and efficiency, with frugal fuel consumption and loads more torque to leverage where necessary. The diesel variants are also separated by their nine-speed auto transmission, compared with six gears in the petrol and manual vehicles. Nevertheless, every version comes with seven airbags, trailer sway control, infotainment, keyless operation, electronic parking brake and more. It’s also worth noting, the five-year 100,000km warranty is great for peace of mind. For a small SUV the Compass has plenty of cabin space in the front and back, while the 4x4 models are just as adept off-road as they are on bitumen where handling is absolute.
