SsangYong's Tivoli is a hard car to find at the moment amid a surge in interest throughout 2020. The Korean auto-maker ran out of stock across Australia in the midst of the pandemic, with demand outstripping supply available to local dealers. While a relaunch has at times been touted, the model is effectively on hold, and with the Tivoli expected to come to the end of its life cycle in overseas markets, there is some discussion it may be replaced down under by the more rugged KR10.
While SsangYong filed for bankruptcy just prior to Christmas in 2020, the South Korean auto-maker has effectively continued its operations across Australia, even on record as saying it was business as usual for the company. New models have also just been released, and are in the pipeline also. It remains to be seen what fate awaits the car manufacturer, which is in a battle for survival as debts mount. A number of potential buyers have emerged, however, and by the time you're reading this, it may well be rolled up into another global auto giant.
The Tivoli XLV is produced by the SsangYong Motor Company in Korea, at its primary vehicle manufacturing facility in Pyeongtaek, which is a city in Gyeonggi Province. This facility has the capabilities to produce hundreds of thousands of cars each year, however, SsangYong is currently in the process of moving to a new facility on the outskirts of the same city as it looks to cut costs and adjust its strategy for EV development. While SsangYong might not garner as much attention as its bigger brother in Hyundai, the company has been in establishment for the best part of almost 70 years.
