Sadly, pricing is no longer as sharp as it used to be, however, the Compass brings its own standout qualities to the table. Space here is the real differentiator, with the Compass at times feeling almost akin to a mid-size SUV, rather than a small one. The team at Jeep has achieved this through a clever redesign of the cabin, as well as efficient space optimisation, which still allows the Compass to boast a cavernous cargo boot. In fact, compare this iteration against those of past years, and you’ll quickly realise this unit has a distinctly different feel to it, and for the better. The base Launch Edition (FWD) comes with 129kW of power and 229Nm of torque, driven by a 2.4-litre naturally-aspirated four-pot motor. It may be a pricey upgrade, but the top-spec Trailhawk offers more punch, not to mention, nine-speed auto, AWD and off-road capabilities, with its 2.0-litre diesel harnessing 350Nm. You’ll love the sheer space on offer with the Compass, and if you can stretch your budget to one of the dearer 4x4-fitted variants, this is a unit that will serve you very well under any driving conditions.
