Find out the Jeep Compass 2021 price today!
With its distinctive looks, the Jeep Compass is a compact crossover full of personality and surprise. Where it really differentiates itself and excels is through its off-road capabilities. Off-road it might not be up to the standards of the Jeep Cherokee, but the top-tier Compass variants are quite assured and confident when venturing off bitumen, something that is especially rare in this segment of the market. If you favour that versatility then the Jeep Compass is likely to appeal, though if you would prefer something with more composed ride dynamics for everyday driving, consider the Mazda CX-5 or Honda CR-V.
Over the years, the Jeep Compass has attracted some unwanted attention due to reliability concerns. In many consumer reports the Jeep Compass has fared less favourably compared to other small SUVs. The transmission in the Compass has been a point of concern for some owners, while the electrical systems and engine have also recorded issues, although this doesn't mean that you are necessarily likely to encounter any problems yourself. In 2018 there were as many as six recalls placed across the Compass range in the US, although these recalls have since helped the company diagnose and rectify issues to greatly improve the overall reliability of the latest-release Compass.
There is no second guessing here, because the top-of-the-line Compass Trailhawk is by far and away the best model in the line-up. Not only does it possess all the bonus features found in the Limited and S-Limited variants, but it is separated by its off-roading credentials and brawny engine. Unlike other variants in the Compass range, the Trailhawk is powered by a diesel engine, with the 2.0-litre turbo motor far more economical to run and with considerably more punch. The Trailhawk is also a true 4x4 thanks to its higher ride height, under-body protection, off-road tyres, hill-descent control and loads more.
The rough, tough Wrangler and Gladiator might be the face of Jeep, but the Compass is arguably a more important car – it’s Jeep’s best-selling model globally. On paper it faces off with the Kia Seltos, Subaru XV, Volkswagen T-Roc, and Mazda CX-30 one of the country’s most competitive segments, so there’s no shortage of buyers searching for something just lik...
