Unlike overseas markets, we don't quite receive the depth and variation across the Jaguar XE range, and local new car buyers only have a handful of variants to choose from including those with different drivetrain options. With that said, the P300 R-Dynamic Black, HSE and SE are all broadly similar, with only small differences across the board. With this being the case, you may feel saving a little extra money could be warranted by opting for the R-Dynamic Black variant, but you should ask your local Jaguar dealer about the differences in order to make up your own mind.
There is no single correct answer when it comes to trying to pick one of these two units. The XE saloon is more compact than the XF and offers a more efficient and sporty sensation on the road thanks to its size and dynamics. Meanwhile, the XF ramps up the luxury and focuses more on a status vehicle that has extra space and comfort throughout. On that basis, you are more likely to prefer the XE if you want something that is leaner, faster and more fun to drive, but the XF edges it for amenity, comfort and potentially value for money.
Across the standard XE range, the P300 can sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds, and it has a top speed of 250km/h with fuel consumption rated at just 6.9L/100km. With that said, Jaguar has previously toyed with a unique and special edition of the XE, the SV Project 8, and this happens to be the most powerful Jaguar road car ever produced by the famous auto-maker. With a thunderous supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine offering 441kW of power, it can reach 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 322km/h. Sadly, it currently isn't being sold down under, but as part of Jaguar's Special Vehicle Operations you might be able to arrange something.
Jaguar XE R-Sport 25t Road Test Sydney, Australia All the focus is on its ground-breaking SUV and its sports cars right now, but how is Jaguar faring with its first mid-size sedan since the forgettable X-Type of the noughties? With fleet-footed dynamics and a level of performance that ought to put the German triumvirate on notice, the new XE makes a profound...
View ReviewThe British upmarket marque has always been known for sports models, be it the iconic E-Type, or the many low slung sporty saloons it has developed over the years Jaguars have been admired by those looking for more soul than its German competitors that tend to be efficient more than fun. The F-Type is certainly a strong starting point for the XE. The all-new...
View ReviewWhat's it about? We've been here before. AJaguarstriding in to rival BMW's 3 Series, Benz's C-Class, Audi's A4 and other compact prestige sedans, all full of pomp and fury. That was 2001, the car was the X-Type and it didn't end well. The market didn't cry out for a follow-up to its mix of Ford Mondeo underpinnings and 1960s timewarp styling, andJaguardidn't...
View ReviewFROM feeble to fierce. That’s no mean feat for a car whose immediate predecessor was based on – and ultimately limited by – Ford Mondeo underpinnings, but the Jaguar XE has certainly wowed us since launching last August. Initial experiences flagged something unexpectedly special lurking in England’s woefully overdue response to the 3 Series, despite the over...
