Find out the Jaguar XE 2020 price today!
Unlike overseas markets, we don't quite receive the depth and variation across the Jaguar XE range, and local new car buyers only have a handful of variants to choose from including those with different drivetrain options. With that said, the P300 R-Dynamic Black, HSE and SE are all broadly similar, with only small differences across the board. With this being the case, you may feel saving a little extra money could be warranted by opting for the R-Dynamic Black variant, but you should ask your local Jaguar dealer about the differences in order to make up your own mind.
There is no single correct answer when it comes to trying to pick one of these two units. The XE saloon is more compact than the XF and offers a more efficient and sporty sensation on the road thanks to its size and dynamics. Meanwhile, the XF ramps up the luxury and focuses more on a status vehicle that has extra space and comfort throughout. On that basis, you are more likely to prefer the XE if you want something that is leaner, faster and more fun to drive, but the XF edges it for amenity, comfort and potentially value for money.
Across the standard XE range, the P300 can sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds, and it has a top speed of 250km/h with fuel consumption rated at just 6.9L/100km. With that said, Jaguar has previously toyed with a unique and special edition of the XE, the SV Project 8, and this happens to be the most powerful Jaguar road car ever produced by the famous auto-maker. With a thunderous supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine offering 441kW of power, it can reach 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 322km/h. Sadly, it currently isn't being sold down under, but as part of Jaguar's Special Vehicle Operations you might be able to arrange something.
The Jaguar XE is the compact sports-luxury sedan the X-Type of the 2000s should have been, and it simply reinforces how far the British brand’s product development has progressed ever since ownership swapped from Ford to Tata Motors in 2008. For whatever reason, however, the XE hasn’t had the desired effect of boosting sales of Jaguar sedans. Even allowing f...
View ReviewAs Britain’s answer to German automotive institutions like the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class in what is now a declining executive sedan segment, the Jaguar XE was never going to have it easy. Almost five years since its global launch in 2015, so far this year it’s proved less popular in Australia than the all-conquering C-Class and smaller CLA, as w...
View ReviewMercedes-Benz has the C-Class, BMW has the 3 Series, Audi has the A4 and Jaguar has the one people in Australia seem to forget – the XE. Yep, the default setting we seem to have when it comes to buying a prestige car is as strong as buying the same brand of milk every week. There’s a decent choice of milk, but it can sometimes seem that there are only three...
View ReviewBMW and Jaguar have an impressive lineage when it comes to sporty executive cars. In the compact/medium segment it was BMW and its 3 Series that, for decades, set the benchmark for the way a luxury four-door steered. Yet with some slight faltering in more recent generations, the 3 Series allowed the 2015 Jaguar XE to step in and have its measure dynamically....
View ReviewThe Jaguar XE was meant to save Jaguar. The BMW 3 Series rival launched with huge expectations on its shoulders, but has never really hit the sales heights its British (or should that be Indian?) creators hoped. That’s despite a chassis with real talent, and the draw of the rakish Jaguar badge. Blame the move away from traditional sedans, blame the fact th...
