Packed with a lot of classic charm, the Lexus IS350 is a time-honoured favourite as an affordable option in the luxury sedan category. Whereas its IS peers now favour a hybrid drivetrain, this unit opts for a naturally aspirated 3.5L V6 to reward its owner with bite and punch to the tune of 233kW and 378Nm. The most evident trait however, is the responsive steering and delicate balance to the rear wheel drive setup, which provides an assured feeling as far as ride quality. Comfort also extends to the cabin, which has a sense of airiness and discerning taste to it. The seats offer magnificent support, while leg and head room provides no qualms for those in the second row. One glance at the specifications list will also reveal how much value is crammed into the IS350, with a level of depth to the amenity and safety items that is second to none. Most pleasingly, this is a sedan that is priced quite affordably with respect to its peers, which makes it an obvious contender right off the bat. Then you peek a little further under the surface and you realise, it’s not just any contender, it’s a mighty fine one to call your own.
