With the same platform as the Mercedes-Benz GLE, there is some profound mechanical nous underneath the clean and articulate exterior. Despite their shared look, Jeep has been able to inject some variety into the series with a 4x2 rear-wheel drive option accompanying an otherwise 4x4 range that offers the choice of dual-range or single-range gearing, and petrol or diesel. Standard items extend to trailer sway control, auto bi-xenon headlights, auto wipers, keyless operation, reversing camera, parking sensors, alloy wheels and tyre pressure monitoring. With an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission acting as composer to an assortment of assertive engines, including a top-spec 6.4L V8, there are potent dynamics to venture off the beaten track. However, with an independent suspension setup that is crafted to bitumen, the Grand Cherokee has poise and accuracy unlike most other SUVs equipped for off-roading.
