As a niche brand and model that prioritises quality over mass production, the Land Rover Range Rover has often been synonymous with luxury and developing some fantastic high-end cars decked out with exquisite materials and soft touches. Over time, the company has invested considerable amounts of money into the development of new features and technology, as well as engineering nous. With this in mind, the company has a focus on margins as opposed to volume, and it doesn't necessarily operate with the same economies of scale as other manufacturers out of Asia or the like.
At this time, Land Rover hasn't released an all-electric Range Rover SUV just yet. The platform underpinning the 2022 Range Rover line-up has been created with electrification in mind, which means the company has decided to futureproof its architecture for the arrival of an all-electric model in due course. In the meantime, the 2022 range includes hybrid and mild-hybrid powertrains, but it isn't until 2024 that the auto-maker is expected to release an all-electric variant in overseas markets. Fingers crossed they deliver ahead of time!
This is a tough one that new car buyers will need to consider, as the maintenance and repair costs for a Range Rover are quite high. Some of the models have also come into attention over time for being less reliable than other brands like Toyota, despite offering a much broader upmarket experience and great off-road credentials. Nonetheless, servicing costs are almost certain to set you back far more than cut-price models from the likes of Nissan, Hyundai or Mitsubishi. You may want to consider Land Rover's servicing plans for the Range Rover line-up, however, one bright spot is that service plans are complimentary on the standard Range Rover.
