Prices for the new Mercedes-Benz G-Class range from $233,776 for the G 400D to $298,876 for the G63. The former, as you might have guessed, runs on diesel, and it also boasts a 2.9-litre turbo motor paired with a nine-speed automatic G-Tronic transmission. Meanwhile, the G63 runs on a turbo petrol 4.0-litre engine that is mated to the same none-speed auto G-Tronic gearbox. These prices exclude on-road costs, so drive-away prices will be slightly higher.
Mercedes-Benz's G-Class is sometimes dubbed the G-Wagon, which is short for the German word Geländewagen, translating as "terrain vehicle" in English. This mid-size four-wheel-drive luxury SUV is a niche offering from the German auto-maker, with the vehicle actually manufactured by Magna Steyr on behalf of Mercedes-Benz, who sell the vehicle globally into a number of different markets.
With the Mercedes-Benz G-Class coming in well above $200,000, it's not uncommon to be concerned by how well these luxury units hold their resell value. However, by comparison with other mid-size SUVs, the G-Class fares relatively well, seeing depreciation of about 45% after 5 years. By years 7-10, you'll probably be looking at a vehicle that retains around 40-45% of its original value, which is exceptionally good.
