Find out the LDV T60 2020 price today!
Don’t let the budget price fool you, the LDV T60 utes are stacked with equipment and features. Featuring a long list of safety aids that ensure this unit drives away with a five-star ANCAP safety rating, the LDV T60 turns the past perception of Chinese-built cars on its head. It also redefines what you may have once thought about their performance, offering modest power, harmonious ride quality, balanced ride comfort, and a neat interior that makes for an impressive car to own. Worth every penny, this is a no-frills ute that gets the job done.
LDV's latest engine, an efficient and optimised 2.0-litre turbo diesel motor dubbed the D20, is produced in-house by its large-scale parent company, SAIC Motor Corporation. Of the models that still feature a 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine with 120kW and 360Nm of torque, this engine has been made under license from Italy’s VM Motori.
Three of the variants in the LDV T60 line-up feature a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine. This includes the Luxe (4x4), Mega TUB (4x4) and PRO (4x4) models. This motor is capable of producing 110kW of power at 3400 rpm, as well as 360Nm of torque at 1600-2800 rpm. In the range-topping Trailrider 2 (4x4) D20, a different single turbo-diesel motor is used, tweaked to pump out 120kW of power and 375Nm of torque. This new motor is expected to be deployed across the entire line-up in time.
Chinese automaker LDV has made a lot of effort to gain a foothold in the booming ute segment in Australia. From the launch of its original T60 in 2017, which, while acceptable, was found wanting in some areas, to the ute we have here, the 2020 LDV T60 Trailrider 2, which represents a marked step up for the workhorse. Best of the breed? Let’s find out. The Tr...
View ReviewLDV has been on the map with Australian buyers for some years now. However, in 2019 it seems the Chinese manufacturer made its biggest in-roads yet, earning record Australian sales on the back of a strong value equation and expanded aftersales care. The T60 ute is central to LDV’s rise, accounting for more than half of its Aussie sales. In essence, the T60 L...
View ReviewTowards the budget end of the ute market is pretty busy and the quality of these cheaper and cheerful workhorses is improving all the time. The new Chinese-built LDV T60 Trailrider 2 has had a few minor styling changes, but the big news is the new smaller engine – at 2.0-litre – is smaller than before, but it's producing more power and more torque than its...
View ReviewI am happy with the LDV but not happy with after sales care. I have had a problem with the Blind Spot Detection signal. I repeatably receive an alert on the dash, which continually flashes up and dings an alarm The vehicle has been back to Westpoint Autos twice but still this fault has still not been solved. I have even been told that there is no such "ding"...
