You'll be pleased to know that LDV's growing range of vans are considered reliable and dependable by those who regularly put them through their paces - tradies and couriers. In fact, in the UK, LDV has come out on top as the most-reliable van manufacturer, topping the likes of Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Fiat, Ford and Volkswagen, to name a few. What they might lack in terms of finishes and features they sure make up for as a workhorse. On top of that, you also get a 5-year, 130,000km warranty, which really is the icing on the cake.
Sporting a 2.5-litre turbo-diesel engine, the LDV V80 is a punchy unit that comes with great capabilities. The advanced engine has been designed by Italian diesel engine specialist VM Motori. Meanwhile, the Bosch electronically-controlled and intercooled engine offers drivers up to 100kW of power at 3800rpm, as well as 330Nm of torque. Among the other features of the V80's drivetrain is an engine that has been mounted transversely on the frame, with a common rail fuel injection system for improved combustion and fuel efficiency.
Whereas LDV once had strong ties to the British automotive industry through Leyland DAF, the company is now Chinese-owned. In fact, LDV falls under the watch of SAIC Motor Corporation, which is a Chinese state-owned multinational automotive design and manufacturing company headquartered in Shanghai, China. With its parent company being China's biggest auto-maker, LDV is now back in international markets like Australia and the UK. Thanks to the economies of scale of SAIC, LDV vans are competitively priced.
