Find out the Abarth 595 2018 price today!
The Abarth 595 name comes from a long and rich line of motoring history, dating back more than 50 years with Fiat's original creations. Originally tied to the Fiat 500 model, one of the more recent efforts to revitalise and give this hot unit a new lease on life was to rebrand it as the 595 thanks to Abarth's performance tweaking. Dating back to the original, however, the 500 name came from the reference to the nominal displacement of the two-cylinder engine, which was 500cc. When the Fiat 595 was launched with a new 595cc engine in the 1960s, the 595 drew inspiration from that, and lives on today as part of the Abarth stable.
The Abarth 500 was an upgrade on the Fiat 500 city car, complete with a more imposing and sporty look, plus performance tuning to boot. Then came the next overhaul, the 595 and 595C, which effectively superseded the 500 series by giving it a whole new dimension in terms of power, dynamics, features and amenity. As such you can consider the 595 as the modern-day 500, however, it's much more than that, it is a complete upgrade.
You'll be delighted as an owner of the Abarth 595 because it boasts some delightful qualities that make it a pleasure to keep in the garage. Abarth has established a reputation for delivering well-built, durable and high quality cars that are in every which way reliable. Thanks to the particular level of tuning and craftsmanship across the range, it's easy to understand why this is a dependable brand, including the punchy 595. This is one car you can turn to and know that it has your back.
The 2018 Abarth 595 features some important upgrades over the model it replaces. Still not the most sensible option in the segment, it is an undeniable enthusiast's car, with retro appeal, a willing engine, and go-kart fun factor.
View ReviewDon't knock it 'til you try it When I first saw it parked in the top-secret, hermetically-sealed motoring.com.au underground car bunker, I thought the Abarth 595 looked pretty silly. I actually laughed. I'm a hot hatch buff through and through, and I absolutely love the Fiat Bambino and respect its heritage. But I wasn't too excited by this one. "Abarth can...
View ReviewSince 1949, Abarth has been giving the venerable Italian brand, Fiat, a patina of performance, based largely on giant-killing feats in small modified cars like the Fiat 600 of the 1960s. More recently, the brand has been revived to boost the fortunes of the smallest Fiat on sale in Australia. Known formally as the Abarth 595, the tiny hatch packs a bit of a...
View ReviewIt’s November 1908, and in a hospital in Vienna, Austria, a young boy is born by the name of Carlo Abarth. By the time he was 20, Carlo has designed motorcycle chassis for Milanese coach builder Castagna, built bikes for Austrian firm Motor Thun and raced motorcycles, winning his debut race in Salzburg. Over the next 10 years, he would go on to win five Euro...
View ReviewAs a car ages, manufacturers have two options: let it slowly fade into uncompetitive obscurity or continue to tweak and update it in an effort to keep things fresh. Abarth has chosen the latter route for its 500-based hottie, now called the 595 Competizione in its spiciest form. It first landed locally as the Abarth 500 EsseEsse in 2012, but the donor car da...
