Find out the Ram 1500 2018 price today!
The Ram 1500 starts from a price of $79,950 for the basic trim level Commercial 1500 Express (4x4). At the top of the range, the Ram Ute 1500 Laramie (4x4) will set you back to the tune of $109,950. Both of these prices are the manufacturer's suggested retail price, so be sure to bargain, and also set aside some extra money for dealer delivery, stamp duty and on-road costs.
Like every other car on the market, the Ram 1500 has been the subject of recalls, most notably two separate ones in 2020. These related to potential visibility issues as well as a manufacturing defect on a select number of vehicles where there was a risk that coolant could leak into the intake manifold and potentially lead to a fire. With the company quick to address these defects, you can be sure that Ram is all over the issue now. Otherwise, however, the Ram 1500 is a solid car built to handle a lot of rough and tumble thanks to its rugged, hefty and sturdy frame.
Ram was historically a part of the Dodge brand before being separated out as a unique marque to focus on pick-up trucks, while Dodge retained its focus on passenger vehicles and roadsters. Dodge was itself acquired by the Chrysler Group, which then merged with Fiat to form Fiat-Chrysler. More recently, however, Stellantis has become the parent company to Fiat-Chrysler after a mega-merger with French auto-maker Groupe PSA, making Stellantis the owner of Ram as well as a host of other brands.
The RAM 1500 has arrived under the umbrella of official full-volume importer RAM Trucks Australia to compete in the fast-growing premium ute sub-segment. But the DS-series RAM 1500 model we’re looking at here first went on sale in the US in 2009, meaning its core engineering and design is close to a decade old. An all-new upper-spec DT-series MY19 RAM 1500 w...
View ReviewYou might have heard of the Dodge Ram 1500, one of those all-American pick-up trucks - but that ute doesn't exist anymore. Nope, it's now known as the Ram 1500. Ram is the brand now, and the truck is called a 1500 - and Dodge? Well, it's a brand for muscle cars. The 1500 is the ‘small one' in the Ram line-up, with the bigger Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 models - w...
View ReviewGo big, or go home. It's a popular phrase, indicating somebody should either put in a lot of effort, or not bother at all. It makes sense with towing, as well. Generally speaking, the bigger the tow vehicle is, the better it will be at dragging around something heavy. Aside from Nissan's Patrol, Toyota's LandCruiser and Land Rover's Discovery, your only opti...
View ReviewBuilt in Detroit, brought to Australia by factory-endorsed distributor Ateco, and locally re-manufactured in right hand-drive by Walkinshaw Automotive Group, the Ram 1500 is the little brother to the heavy duty 2500 and 3500 models already available Down Under. But ‘little’ is a relative term! The entry-level 1500 Express is priced from $79,950 drive away, p...
