10 / 10David and his team at "Price my Car" did a terrific job putting us in touch with a Toyota Dealership ( Port Stephens Toyota) linked to their negotiated volume pricing discounts. This amounted to a very significant saving on the best possible price that we were able to negotiate privately before signing up with David. The Toyota Fortuner is a very surprisingly good car. We had never heard of it nor seen one on the road until we started researching for a 4WD vehicle to tow a new caravan that we purchased. It clearly lacks some of the bells and whistles that some other comparable vehicles have, but the towing capacity is awesome, the drive is smooth and incredibly responsive. The car feels solid and reliable. It feels bullet proof. I think that it represents good value for money. The not so good, the voice activated SatNav is almost unworkable, I have literally spent 10 minutes trying to tell it an address to find the route to and it just cannot seem to understand me or my wife. It is beyond annoying. Really you are better off just using Apple Car Play and Siri with the map app in your phone - works first time every time. The fuel economy is not anything like the published results. The trade mags and advertising state 7.6 L/100kms and I have tried to get close to this driving it without air conditioning on, driving like a nanna and have tried Economy, Normal, and Sports modes the absolute best I have been able to achieve was 9.6 L/100kms and typically with A/C on and driving normally I get 10.1L/100kms. Still not bad for a big heavy 4WD with 500Nm torque ( its a beast with power to burn), but I think that the stated fuel consumption is a bit of a fairy tale. All in all though, great car. Its early days yet but I think the Fortuner is a hidden gem.
