10 / 10Great fun car everything I expected ,chose the RF over the soft top hard decision but love the fact that I own a sports coupe and a convertible oh yer definitely get the manual gear box

10 / 10I have owned a wide variety of hot hatches, practical cars and motorcycles. My 2021 softop 1.5L Auto MX5 has introduced me to a new and thrilling way to experience driving - every day. As soon as you get in, you feel part of something uniquely intimate and involving. It alerts your senses to what is about to unfold. Turn the key and the smile widens, engage drive and it responds like no car I’ve ever had. It’s low and feels faster at any given speed. It positively converses with your senses and feeds you a torrent of feelings which entertain and make the need for a radio redundant. Fold back the soft top (with one hand) and a new layer of information is added, reminiscent of my bikes but more so. I can hear birds as I pass trees, the exhaust sings and the tires hum. And the drive? Like a comfortable go kart, it encourages fast cornering but not the need for hefty acceleration or foot to the floor. It intoxicates at legal speeds. The auto changes quickly and locks up early and persistently. You can let it operate happily in normal or in sport mode if you want to keep it in the upper sweet spot rev range, override with up or down changes with the paddles, or go fully manual. It’s a great gearbox. This car is a unique joy and I will keep it until I can no longer drive (I’m 70 and fully fit). Try one!
