Admired by many, the Subaru Impreza has earned critical appraise from a wide range of motoring pundits and it's not hard to see why. This is a fantastic choice of vehicle for the driver who wants to bring a bit of excitement into the fold, while also being lavished in great surrounds and benefitting from a healthy serving of equipment. The Impreza is known for its sporty and dynamic qualities on the road, so why not make the most of your time on the road and truly enjoy it.
Fortunately, today's assortment of Subaru engines are powerful and prodigious. Reliability concerns haven't always followed suit, with the 2.5-litre EJ series of engines once prone to major issues like potentially overheating and loss of coolant. In recent years there have still been isolated recalls in relation to the engines in Subaru vehicles, although the severity of the issues identified seems to be less severe than they once were.
With all of the Impreza models priced in a narrow band, you'll have a tough time trying to pick one over the other, particularly when they share so many of the same great features. If budget is the most-pressing issue, the second-grade 2.0i-L (AWD) model should fit the bill, as it offers the highly impressive EyeSight active safety suite for just a couple grand extra on top of the entry-level 2.0i. However, if you don't mind paying a little extra to enjoy all the perks the Impreza has to offer, then upgrade to the 2.0i-S, which adds a whole plethora of luxury and safety features, plus handy tech upgrades to boot.
