Mitsubishi Triton FAQs

PMC Says... 8.6 / 10

Mitsubishi Triton In a highly competitive segment where the Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger reign supreme, the Mitsubishi Triton more than holds its own as a 4x4 ute. As a matter of fact, the model has consistently featured in the top 10 selling cars and locked down its place as the third best-selling light commercial vehicle. One of the first things you’ll notice is that even the top of the line 4x4 dual-cab variant, the Exceed, is priced more aggressively than its peers. Despite the lower price, none of the high-end finishes have been lost, nor has the impressive build quality suffered. The Triton benefits from a smaller profile and lighter weight, making it easier to navigate in city traffic. Balance between towing and payload capacities is appreciable, a feature you’ll value. Interior finishes improve in quality as you work your way up through the Triton range. Beneath the surface, ample power comes from the 2.4L engine. Meanwhile, the 2019 version sees an upgraded transmission from five-speed auto to six-speed, which puts in a typically workmanlike performance characteristic of Mitsubishi. Unsurprisingly, the Triton is a clear value leader in the 4x4 ute segment.

Mitsubishi Triton Review

The Mitsubishi Triton GSR is the new flagship of the brand’s ute range. Although the GSR badge was previously applied to a rally-bred, high-performance, turbocharged all-wheel-drive Lancer sedan in the 1990s, more recently it has been used on the Mitsubishi ASX to distinguish the top model grade of the brand’s small SUV. In the case of the Mitsubishi Triton,...

Its sales are only about half those of the top-selling Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger, but the 2021 Mitsubishi Triton continues to be the third-best seller in the high-volume Australian 4x4 ute segment. And the analytical crystal ball tells us that scenario is likely to continue for the foreseeable future. Almost all of the competing workhorse utes have now ro...

Our test vehicle is available with either six-speed manual for a list price of $46,240 or six-speed automatic transmission like our example for $48,490. It’s also equipped with several Mitsubishi genuine accessories comprising a stainless-steel front nudge bar with LED light bar (RRP$1649), tow-bar kit (RRP$1198) and polished (load tub) sports bar (RRP$1285)...

It has been a busy 12 months in the dual-cab ute market, with a series of newcomers invading the country’s headline-grabbing utility vehicle segment.  One model that’s not changed a whole lot is the Mitsubishi Triton, which continues to soldier on as one of the country’s best-selling utility vehicles behind heavyweights Ford Ranger and Toyota HiLux. Whereas...

More private buyers opt for Toyota HiLuxes and Ford Rangers, but the Mitsubishi Triton deserves its place as number three in the sales race, ahead of the Isuzu D-Max and Nissan Navara. It’s usually well-made and more importantly, affordable. And if I might add, unpretentious. It doesn’t really put out headline numbers, or attract hardcore fan groups here, th...

One quick click and I was put in touch with the dealership sales manager who provided excellent service. No need to talk to sales people who are not the decision makers in the dealership.
