• How much does a SLK Mercedes cost?

  Mercedes-Benz phased out the SLK from 2016/17, and its successor, the SLK, from the end of 2019 after being produced across three generations and a 23-year lifespan. The original SLK was launched at the Paris motor show in 1996, with a second iteration following at the Geneva motor show in 2004. The German auto-maker released its third generation of the SLK in 2011. Although a popular roadster, Mercedes-Benz made the decision to discontinue the SLK and SLC follow-up amid falling sales and shrinking margins as SUVs gain more traction and favour among new car buyers.

• What does SLK mean on a Mercedes?

  Although the SLK badge has since been retired, with Mercedes-Benz revamping its line-up and utilising the now-discontinued SLC tag instead, original enthusiasts will always have a special place in their hearts for the SLK. The SLK acronym comes from the German words “sportlich leight kurz”, which translates into “sporty light short”. That might seem a little clumsy in terms of expression, but there can be no denying that the body of an SLK is sporty, light and short.

• What is the difference between a Mercedes SLK and SLC?

  The SLK and SLC were both one and the same for much of the last quarter of a century. In fact, the SLC was previously known as the SLK until a change in naming convention took place when the roadster was given a mid-generation refresh in 2016. From 2017, the Mercedes-Benz SLC replaced the SLK, and the brand phased out the SLK 350 and SLK 55 AMG variants, instead streamlining the SLC range via the SLC200, SLC300 and AMG SLC 43. Nowadays, however, the SLC has also been discontinued.
