Well, yes and no. The original i20 hatch as we knew it is a thing of the past, which followed a decision by the Korean auto-maker to discontinue production of the standard i20 for the Australian market. That was due to the weaker Aussie dollar, which meant the model was no longer profitable for our local shores. However, the news isn't all gloomy, because Hyundai did make the decision to launch a souped up version of the i20 in the N series, which is a mighty hot hatch.
Now that the only Hyundai i20 variants sold down under are from the N series range, this hatch will set you back far more than it once used to. With that said, many who take the new i20 for a spin are blown away by what this revamped unit can do. There are two trim levels on offer, including the i20 N, which starts at $32,490, and the i20 N TTR, which is priced from $33,490. Both of these figures are before on-road costs.
In the hatchback space, few cars offer as good a reputation for reliability as that of the Hyundai i20. Perhaps the other names to consider would come courtesy of Toyota, but the i20 can stand up on its own merit. When you take into consideration that the only i20 models sold in Australia are the high-end N series variants, things look even better because these units are built to the highest of standards with superb engineering to show. Of course, a fabulous safety package rounds out the dependable nature of this hatch.

But the more mundane, mainstream Giulia isn’t what the red-blooded Alfisti want to know about. They want...
