Hyundai Genesis
Looking to cement itself as not just an affordable car brand, but one that also fits into the luxury segment of the market, Hyundai developed the Genesis label a few years ago. Its mid-size, rear-wheel drive sedans only come in eight-speed automatic transmission and petrol engine, however there is formidable output at the press of the accelerator. The ride quality is refined and decisive, something only matched by the diverse assortment of equipment that you will find inside the swank interior. Years in the making, the finesse and detail found within the Hyundai Genesis shows development effort beyond comprehension. One thing that will grow on you is the simple and dignified presentation of the sedan, accentuated through glorious contours in its body. There’s also something to be said for the price, because it fairs remarkably well against some of the other premium sedans on sale, yet at the same time makes good on balance and engine performance with grit and gumption.

And that’s a shame, because while the V8 versio...

Too bad: Australians won’t get the Hyundai Genesis V8, and that’s a shame. It’s not just a shame because the Hyundai ‘Tau’ 5.0-litre V8 engine feels like a better fit for this type and size of car than the 3.8-litre V6 that is currently the only engine available in Australia. Nor is it that the US model - known as the Hyundai Genesis 5.0 Ultimate - gets a be...
