The latest edition of the Haval H6 shows off its hunger in more ways than one. The slick six-speed dual-clutch auto gearbox is a delight, combining well with the refined 2L turbo four-cylinder engine. Unlike the H2, the torque in this unit kicks in earlier on the tachometer, so it’s an SUV with a lot more haste and grunt than meets the eye. In case there were any doubts, this also shows up on the specs sheet, where you’ll see maximum outputs of 145kW and 315Nm. On the road the H6 feels poised and comfortable, the effects of a local chassis tuning that does wonders. There is a heightened level of sophistication inside the cabin, with more bells and whistles like leather seating, an improved multimedia system and panoramic moonroof coming together to make for a charming design. That also extends to additional equipment and safety features like blind-spot monitoring, despite still being at a very reasonable price-point for the budget conscious new car buyer. Like Haval’s other models, interior space is never lacking, and this means those in the second row can embrace long rides with complete peace of mind. Showcasing an eye-catching sporty design that compares favourably to its peers, the Haval H6 represents the best of all things in one value-packed ensemble.
