This new-generation mid-sized SUV is in sharp contrast to its predecessor, offering a host of improvements that make this a top contender in the value category. It’s now sitting on new modular architecture, including independent front and rear suspension set-ups, electric-assisted steering, and Bosch electronic stability program. Powering the Haval H6 is a 2.0-litre turbo motor that at the top of the range, offers 150kW of power and 320Nm of torque. Importantly, the dual-clutch transmission is smooth, while the top-spec variant offers AWD with lockable 50:50 torque-split functionality. The H6 doesn’t roll through corners, it feels weighted harmoniously, which means it is a pretty compliant unit to drive. Perhaps the surprise among everything, however, is the interior, which feels anything but a modestly-priced car. Haval has chosen some great quality materials, the design feels fresh and inviting, while the layout opens up plenty of space. Add in a swathe of standard features like proximity key access and twin-infotainment systems, among many others, as well as first-rate cabin technology, advanced safety aids, plus all sorts of radars, cameras, and Level 2+ self-driving capability, this is a forward-thinking car. Value for money is at the top of the charts right here, making the Haval H6 a wonderful option.
