Yes, the Citroen C3 is sold in Australia with an automatic drivetrain that drives the front wheels only. In fact, you can't find a manual option, even if you wanted one. Back to the auto gearbox, which is a six-speed auto. This fine piece of equipment is particularly efficient, offering slick, precise changes that make the C3 feel effortless to drive. On the road this car feels smooth and planted, and a large part of that is thanks to the wonderful transmission unit Citroen has mated with the Euro-6-compliant 1.2-litre turbo petrol motor.
It wouldn't be correct to say that any car is immune from its own fair share of issues. Of course, on the balance of probabilities, you are less likely to run into serious issues in more upmarket cars, but that doesn't mean the specific unit you purchase will be issue-free. Citroen cars are certainly built to a good standard, but the C3 is known for running into the odd electrical gremlin here and there. What does that mean exactly? You might run into an issue like problems with the central locking system, or the lights for that matter. Elsewhere, engine misfires are another reported issue, and the C3 sometimes faces criticism for being a little short on power when going up hills.
By and large, Citroen has put together a fairly solid car in the C3. It isn't a category leader in terms of reliability, but the C3 isn't a slouch either. The French auto-maker brings a sophisticated feel to the C3, owing to the interior, which feels rather plush and premium, as well as the sumptuous design of the exterior of this lovely hatch. Citroen offers a 'Confidence Service Price Promise Program', as well as a 5 year, unlimited kilometre warranty on all new Citroën passenger vehicles from MY18. For many, this is just added peace of mind.
