After some time keeping eager motorists on their toes awaiting its return, the Toyota Supra is back. It shares the same RWD platform as the new BMW z4, with the two units co-developed from the ground up. But this isn’t some straight swap between the two auto-makers, with the Supra boasting its own personality and driving qualities. This is also a more mature model than that of years prior. Now you are greeted with a coupe that feels polished in every facet. With that said, there is still a sprightly level of enthusiasm in the hard-top Supra. Its exterior is a mouth-watering and daring amalgamation of coupe flair, exotic roadster and concept car. A delightful interior is adorned with plush leather and vibrant colour, differing from its z4 cousin only by way of the UI interface and physical buttons. Nevertheless it makes for a synchronised connection with the exterior. Put into effect, the Supra has a level of aggression and responsiveness that proves it is no budget counterpart. The z4 edges it out for acceleration with some technical motor prowess, but the Supra’s dynamics are tuned so effectively that it’s left in no shadow thanks to its adaptive damping, electronic differential and electrically assisted steering. The real difference here though is that you can still afford to load the Toyota Supra, built from its German genes, with a swathe of options and amenities yet keep that budget in check. It’s finally here and it’s worth it.
