Find out the Toyota Prius 2016 price today!
When it comes to hybrid cars, the Toyota Prius has long been one of the first names on the top of most buyers shopping lists. Backed by more than 25 years of development, the Prius is an efficient and precise vehicle offering a generous serving of equipment and features, a spacious cabin with roominess, pleasant driving dynamics, and reliability that is second to none. It may wear a slightly dearer price-tag than some of its familiar peers.
For all its 'green' credentials, one of the criticisms of the Prius concerns the level of energy and carbon dioxide emissions arising from the production of this unit. On that front, production of the Prius has a greater long-term impact on the environment than many petrol-powered vehicles. The biggest driver of this is the hybrid batteries that create problems for the environment. Outside of that, you may appreciate the greater ride height of a crossover, or the more affordable price-point found in other hatchbacks on the market, which even includes the Corolla Hybrid.
Despite low sales in a market where hybrid vehicles are only growing in popularity, even if slowly, the Prius remains part of Toyota's plans for the Australian new car market. The impact of emerging competition in the hybrid category has taken its toll, including the rise of its brand-peer, the RAV4, but Toyota responded to this by axing the Prius c from its line-up to focus on the original Prius and the roomier Prius V.
The oddly styled fourth-generation Toyota Prius fails to make much of an impression.
View ReviewToyota Prius i-Tech Long-term road test (Final update) For so long, for so many people, Prius has been the go-to hero of green motoring. When it hit the Australian market around 15 years ago, rivals for the Prius were limited and so it found itself as the poster-child. Even with an expanding line-up of rivals, it still grabs attention – good and bad. The Pri...
View ReviewThe hybrid owner makes a statement but pays a premium price. Our Federal and State governments, unlike those in Japan, the US and Europe, provide no incentives apart from a token concession on the luxury car tax to entice buyers into clean, green machines. Britain's car tax is based on carbon dioxide emissions. If we had the same regimen, you'd cough up abou...
View ReviewBack in 2010 we spent a few months with a Toyota Prius. That was the third-generation model, and on the whole we came away feeling that the car was a little bit misunderstood. And, based on our first month of ownership of the fourth-generation, 2016 Toyota Prius, the same can probably be said of the awkwardly-styled small sedan. We’ve already given the Prius...

WHAT IS IT?The fourth iteration of Toyota’s original hybrid car and the flagbearer of petrol-electric tech within the brand’s expanding hybrid range. WHY WE’RE TESTING ITTo see if the Prius can shake its stodgy driving image with an all-ne...
