Suzuki Ignis
In its own element cruising inner city streets, the Suzuki Ignis is a recipe for pleasant on-road driving. Not only is it lightweight and frugal on fuel, but it’s tall, spacious, lively, encumbered with equipment and most strikingly, it’s dirt cheap! As far as small SUVs go, that ticks a lot of boxes for just about everyone. The cabin boasts sat-nav, reversing camera, cruise control, smartphone integration and six airbags. In its entirety, it all amounts to a fun driving experience whereby you can take corners with ease, squeeze through tight spots and zip away from standstill effortlessly. Few cars that retail for well under $20k allow that sort of dynamic, which makes this a refreshing experience to handle. The GLX may only seat four occupants but its headroom and legroom are especially effective, particularly as it ensures a slender profile to the crisp and sporty design of the Ignis. For all its efforts, Suzuki has manufactured a highly resourceful compact SUV that may well force its rivals to sit up and take notice, as should anyone in the market for a new car.

They might come bigger, and they might come more expensive, but nothing comes near the updated 2020 Suzuki Ignis for sheer, chunky sassiness. Not that it has many competitors. Although lumped into the light SUV category, there’s nothing out there that is more compact or adventurously crafted than the matchbox-size (and shaped) Suzuki. And that includes segme...

If nothing else, the Ignis is affordable. Out of two specification levels, the GLX as tested here is the top variant, is automatic only, and wears a before on-road costs price tag of $19,990 (at the time of writing, you could get one drive-away for $20,990). The Ignis is sized closely to the Kia Picanto, which in automatic form tops out at the GT-Line ($17,4...

What’s your take on light SUVs – are they big enough to be properly practical or are they completely useless? I’ve never been a fan of these things. They’re just too small to be of any real use in my book and you’re far better off with a small five-door hatchback for similar money. At least that’s my take on the entire segment. Case in point is my oldest dau...

Tiny dimensions make the fun-driving Suzuki Ignis exceptionally handy in the city, and its lightweight body helps it get along very nicely out on the open road – and without using much petrol. The relatively tall, SUV-style body also means more headroom and legroom than you might expect, and for such an inexpensive car. The Ignis is well-equipped though it d...

Love my car. Very comfortable. Being able to slide the back seats forward is fantastic. All passengers have good leg room. The only problem is not having very much storage space.
